The PLaCE Research Centre is running two workshops;

'Catchment' workshop is intended to contribute to our developing working relationship with both Bristol City Council and with members of the international Mapping Spectral Traces Network with a particular interest in water issues and bio-regions and to launch a new international network.

PlaCE/Mapping Spectral Traces workshop is intended to develop and broaden the ongoing conversation between PLaCE/LAND2 and members of the international Mapping Spectral Traces network of artists, landscape designers, performers and academics working in the emergent fields of Memory and Landscape Studies.

This workshop for 20 invited participants is intended to contribute to our developing working relationship with both Bristol City Council and with members of the international Mapping Spectral Traces Network with a particular interest in water issues and bio-regions. 
The workshop is intended to launch a new international network for creative practitioners interested in working with professionals, particularly those in the Public Sector, concerned with generating better geo-regional awareness of hydrological realities and their connections to broader social issues. 
PLaCE is initiating this process because we believe our engagement in ‘deep mapping’ and related creative methodologies makes us very well placed to help raise awareness in this field. The purpose of the day is to start to identify and share innovative good practice with a view to developing common understandings. We hope that the workshop will provide a basis for collaborative projects and one or more bids for funding to take the new network forward in practical terms, both regionally and in an international context.
